Gael Guéguen

Gael Guéguen, born in 1966.

When I first start creating a collage I don’t have a clear vision of what the final finished piece will look like.  Like many collage makers, I use old magazines and I enjoy the process of hunting through my resources to find the perfect image. I’m kind of like a vintage magazine detective.

My earlier works I produced were heavily influenced by Jacques Prévert, Robert Rauschenberg and many of the major founding influential pop artists. My style and subject matter has since evolved but my work still echoes my past influences.

I aim for each collage I create to surprise the viewer and perhaps allow them to burst out laughing! Art is not a serious affair. Nobody is perfect!
