What’s the most important object in your studio? The most important objects in my studio are paper, a sharp knife, attention to detail and abundance of time! All my works are comments to the efficiency and high pace of modern life. Details, time and contemplation are often not considered to add any value, however I find it in nature and nurture and grow it, while cutting and painting. My work can be experienced from a distance and up close. Up close the viewer needs time to consider all the details and sense the fragility.
Paper or Plastic? I prefer paper. The structure and possibilities of paper are fascinating. I collect old books and vintage magazines, because I love pictures and texts from the past. It’s living history and focuses on everyday life and small sensations.
Favourite Project you have produced so far? My favourite project so far is my series of ‘The Definitions of Insanity’ (I-IV).
What are you working on right now? Right now I’m working on motives with men, machines and animals. I’m searching for the masculine part of details and time.
Favourite Food? My favourite food is from the Middle East.
Coffee or tea? I’m not able to start up my day without filter coffee with milk.
What’s your earliest creative memory? In my childhood I loved staying alone in my room drawing and painting. In kindergarten I produced lots of things made from wood, beads, sewing and drawing. My mom still has these masterpieces.
How do you prefer to spend your mornings? I prefer to spend my morning slow, with coffee, family and the radio.
